September's AFL/AMA joint membership luncheon will feature Juan Faura, the president of Cultura, a Dallas-based advertising and marketing company which specializes in communicating to the U.S. Hispanic market. Juan will be speaking on how to effectively target Hispanic consumers in todayís marketplace. He is also the author of "The Whole Enchilada: Hispanic Marketing 101 and Thatís the Way the Sandwich Comes: Hispanic Marketing Grows up." Juan himself is half Mexican and half Puerto Rican, covering the two largest Hispanic constituencies in the U.S.

His background includes a father who was a vice-president for Gillette Corporation of Mexico exposing his family to the finer aspects of a privileged socioeconomic status. On the other end of the spectrum was Mr. Faura's mother, a woman who came from a humble background and a rough neighborhood in Mexico City. He recalls weekends with Saturdays spent going to the best and most expensive restaurants, while Sundays were spent going to picnics or eating tacos in little hole-in-the-wall establishments in some of the toughest parts of Mexico City.

Now, as president of a full-service multicultural advertising agency, he stresses the importance of consumer intelligence, emphasizing the impact his firm's strategies bring to clients' bottom lines. He describes his staff as a collection of Mexican, Puerto Rican, South American, Central American, and Cuban marketers, poets, artists, and business leaders bent on making clients' Hispanic business grow.

The luncheon will be held on Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at the Embassy Suites Hotel, 1040 P Street. Networking and registration begin at 11:45 a.m. with the luncheon program beginning at noon. Cost to attend is $14 for students, $16 for members, and $21 for non-members. For more information, or to make your reservation, please call 434-6664 or e-mail info@adfedlincoln.org. All no-shows will be billed.
