What drove you to get into the advertising biz?
I scooted into the advertising business bass ackwards. My life at UNL was similar to Pauly Shore's character "Crawl" from the 90's classic Son in Law, majoring in everything from Middle West Asian storytelling to Liberal Martial Arts. After majoring in Music and coming to the realization that classical vocal music was so three centuries ago, I decided to get into Advertising. Why? Obviously, I have a hard time figuring out what I want in life. But, I always had the gift of being able to understand what turns others on (get your mind out of the gutter). And that's what Advertising is, in a sense, right? It's about knowing your audience. So, here I am. Hello!
Describe a typical day in your life...
Wake up. Look in the mirror and analyze the length of my perennial mustache. Decide whether or not it will offend innocent bystanders by 5 o'clock. Inevitably decide to shave. Lather. Rinse. Repeat.
What do you like best about what you do?
I love managing and working with college students. They present a unique challenge in trying to get our client's message out to a demographic that doesn't respond well to traditional advertising tactics and mediums. But more importantly, they have kept me from growing up too fast.
What do you find challenging in our industry?
Every idea has been done and every idea has flaws. None are original or perfect. When dealing with co-workers and clients, it's much easier to take someone's idea and point out the negative. The challenging part is finding opportunity and positivity within each idea and taking it to the next level of creativity.
How do you hope to make the advertising industry better?
All I want is to hold this industry close in my arms and tell it that everything is going to be alright.
What do you like to do in your free time?
Dude stuff like cooking, shopping, singing and dancing.
Favorite song: La Bamba
Favorite movie: La Bamba
Favorite drink that someone can buy you: PBR
